Sonic Visions Conference Kick-off
16h00 to 16h15 at Massenoire

Multipistes press conference: the network, the program & the artists
From 16h30 to 17h00 at Main Conference Room

The Multipistes network is inviting you to its official relaunch press conference to present its new artist support program for 2017, the involved artists and the partners of the network.  After 3 successfull years of EU funding through the Interreg IV-A program, the partners have decided to continue their collaboration and to develop the network in order to promote and support the emerging artists from the Greater Region in a sustainable way.

Multipistes is a network of several organisations in the Greater Region (Luxembourg, neighbouring parts of France, Belgium and Germany), which have teamed up to scout, support and promote artists through several programs including artist residencies, training, showcases and live promotion. As one of the leading forces of the Multipistes network, Rocklab pushes the network’s development by hosting a number of events, such as the workshops, panels & networking sessions during the Sonic Visions Music Conference. The Multipistes network has worked with and supported bands and artists like Monophona (LU), Seed to Tree (LU), Chapelier Fou (F), Scene Writers (DE), Colline Hill (BE) and Mutiny on the Bounty (LU).

Artist support in the Greater Region: different strategies, a single goal?
From 17h30 to 18h15 at Main Conference Room

The music industry is changing faster than ever, labels seem less keen to invest into artists from the start, the all-digital revolution impacts the ways of selling and promoting music and artists are expected to be ready for the stage in no time. The knowledge required by today’s artists to get a career started and make it last may seem tremendous. But that’s precisely where artist support programs come into play. Be it general information on how the industry works, project-related follow-up & support or assistance to develop a live show, several structures based in France, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg and initiatives like the Multipistes network in the Greater Region provide such resources.

The panel will discuss the role of such programs in today’s industry, the distinct philosophies in each territory and the advantages of a common cross-border approach.

Host: Olaf Furniss (Journalist & Born To Be Wide / Wide Days organiser)

Speakers: Jean-Christophe Gérard (Project Coordinator – Multipistes / L’Autre Canal), Markus Graf (Executive Chairman – LAG Rock & Pop in Rheinland – Pfalz eV), François-Xavier Kernkamp (Manager – SoundGoku), Sam Reinard (Manager – Rocklab).
