Shouling for Joey (D)

Created two years ago in Trier, this indie-rock band quickly became one of the region’s favorites.  They released a first album called « The initial spin » last August and they will be for the first time @ Rockhal for Sonic Visions !  Come and discover them !

Murder (DK)

Murder is an acoustic duo whose members seem to have taken their influences from Nick Cave, Calexico, 16 Horsepower or even Leonard Cohen. Song writing of great quality sustained by some judiciously placed guitar chords and there you have it. Emotion, simplicity and effect: that is the music of Murder. Certainly an acoustic parenthesis of this Festival!

An Orange Car Crashed (B)

Originally from the Province of Luxembourg, An Orange Car Crashed is undeniably one of the greatest groups of the Greater Region. With a style close to that of Interpol or Editors, a somewhat cold-wave sound but always the desire to involve a melody which remains in the head for a long time later. After numerous concerts throughout the region, a first trip to the Rockhal is a must!

Metro (LUX)

Metro is without argument one of the leading groups on the Luxembourg rock scene. Modern, credible and aware of how to avoid facile comparison, what is more the quartet is a great purveyor of live performances. Because rock is judged above all on stage, and that stage is where Metro is recreated and somewhere they feel totally at ease!

Miaow Miaow (LUX)

Slowly but surely, this Indie/Pop group is finding itself a great place in the sun! Recent winner with the title “Rio” of the “Pure Demo” competition on Pure FM and named “Best Alternative Band” at the last Elie Music Awards in Luxembourg, Miaow Miaow is unanimously acclaimed both in the specialist press and in the somewhat underground world in which they continue regularly to hold sway.

No and the Maybes (DK)

The Danish Miaow Miaow is called No and the Maybes. Perhaps a little more Sixties in approach, this group from Copenhagen delivers pop of no less fine a quality, enhanced by the ethereal voice of their vocalist. The group won unanimous acclaim at the SPOT festival in Arhus last June!

Veto (DK)

Alternative rock yes, but above all a great dose of electro, even new wave from this Danish group appearing for the first time in Luxembourg. We think of IAMX, Joy Division and also Bloc Party, especially when the group decides to bump up the decibels in every sense of the term. Innovative in approach and extremely professional in realisation, Veto should leave more than one of the audience in a state of shock!

Duné (DK)

Warning: Talent! Duné consist of six guys and a gal who, hardly in their twenties, are already proving to be the “next big thing” throughout Europe. An infallible pop/rock format, a tiny dose of electro and above all a queer habit of making each number a potential hit! Cast an attentive ear to “80 Years” on their myspace site and tell us what you think! Duné is a bet on the future … and an explosion is imminent!

Superfamily (N)

Another great Scandinavian sensation: Superfamily! This slightly mad group is to Norway what the Killers are to the United States, namely a sort of uncontrollable pop/rock UFO all of whose numbers hit the button. Enhanced by impressive live performances, like Duné, Superfamily will undoubtedly be one of the most eagerly awaited performances of the weekend! You’ve been warned!

Mutiny on the Bounty (LUX)

Mutiny on the Bounty is on the verge of something big !  Exciting opening acts (for example in early november for This Arms Are Snakes @ Rockhal) and planned gigs (they will be at this year’s Eurosonic Festival in Gröningen), they also had the time to finish their brand new album which will be released early 2009).  For fans of Fugazi, The Mars Volta and Cursive.

Electrojuice (DK)

Value (and talent) does not wait long, that’s well known. In the case of Electrojuice, the maxim is a gentle euphemism: the pair have hardly 30 years between them! Nevertheless, they manipulate, they tinker and they scratch like the best of them! A fine cross between first-era Daft Punk and, by chance, Metronomy, Electrojuice will be the very electro cork in the 2008 vintage of Sonic Visions Festival.
