Born in Luxembourg on October 3rd 1980, Benoit Martiny grew up in a musical family and started playing percussion and drums at an early age. After first percussion studies in Luxembourg with Al Ginter and Boris Dinev he went on to study jazz drums at the Conservatory of Rotterdam. During that time, Benoit started playing with Dutch Afro group Mdungu with whom he recorded 2 albums and toured around Europe, Asia and America. He also formed his own band, the Benoit Martiny Band, for which he composes the music and which gave him the opportunity to play concerts in Japan, Venezuela and all over Europe. The mighty BMB released 5 albums and 2 DVDs and was the first prize winner of the Amersfoort Jazztalent award 2008. Over the years Benoit has played and recorded with many bands and artists such as Oghene Kologbo (ex-Fela Kuti), Michel Pilz,  Sascha Ley, Laki Latino, Maxime Bender,  Neco Novellas, Mark Lotterman, Mdungu… He also played a concert with trumpet legend Randy Brecker and with Justin Adams (Guitarist of Robert Plant). Currently he is the drummer of Venezuelan Hard-rock/Metal band  Cultura Tres and Luxembourgish Hip-Hop group De Läb among others. He is also teaching drums and percussion at the Musicschool of Echternach.
